Anouska Fairhurst an under 15 athlete travelled to Loughborough University over the weekend to take part in a national competition for young javelin throwers. In its sixth year the ‘UK Javelin Carnival’ is supported by British Athletics and draws athletes from across the UK and abroad to compete against each other. Anouska Fairhurst has her first outing as an U15 Javelin thrower. Her throw of 39.40m at Gillingham in the YDL league destroyed the Lewes U15 girls record adding 10.56m to the previous mark. She goes straight to the top of the UK rankings and is just 95cm away from the Sussex record.

Up against 220 club teams from across Sussex clubs there were some great results and some near misses for Lewes AC runners.
