Lewes Athletic Club Introduces Frame Running Events to Sussex Masters Meeting
Lewes Athletic Club is delighted to announce that frame running events will be included in the Sussex Masters meeting for the first time. The events will take place during Match 4 on Monday 20 July 2026 at the club’s all-weather track behind Lewes Leisure Centre on Mountfield Road.
The new frame running events will see athletes compete over 200 metres at 6:35pm and 100 metres at 7:45pm, providing an exciting opportunity for frame runners to race alongside the established Sussex Masters programme.
Frame running (formerly known as RaceRunning) is an adaptive para-athletics discipline designed for people with severe balance, coordination or mobility impairments. Athletes use a specialised three-wheeled running frame, fitted with a saddle and body support, to propel themselves using their legs. The frame has no pedals, enabling athletes to run or walk safely and competitively.
The Sussex Masters competition is open to athletes aged 35 and over, with individual medals awarded in five-year age groups and team prizes contested across broader age categories. The inclusion of frame running marks another step towards making athletics more inclusive and accessible within Sussex.
The initiative has been inspired by Lewes Athletic Club’s own outstanding frame runner, Noah Rees, who trains regularly at the club’s track. In 2026, Noah was crowned Triple County Champion after winning the 100m, 200m and 400m titles at the Four Counties Disability Championships.
Noah’s exceptional performances have made him a source of great pride for the club and demonstrated the growing strength of frame running in Sussex.
“Lewes Athletic Club is committed to supporting Noah and other frame runners by creating more opportunities to compete,” said Club Chair, Philip Westbury. “By incorporating frame running into our Sussex Masters meeting, we hope to showcase this exciting discipline and encourage more athletes to get involved.”
Anyone interested in taking part in the frame running events is encouraged to contact Philip Westbury, Chair of Lewes Athletic Club at philip.westbury@lewesac.co.uk,for further information and entry details.
