There were some excellent performances by Lewes AC athletes when they competed at the Sussex Schools Track and Field Championships at Crawley on Saturday 16th June. Saturday 9th June saw Round 3 of the Southern Athletics League come to Lewes. Competitors from Chichester, Kingston & Polytechnic Harriers, and Cambridge Harriers (based in South London) descended on the Lewes track for a very windy afternoon of track and field events. No fewer than 22 Lewes AC athletes turned out on a cool, windy evening on Wednesday 6th June for the Worthing 10k. Despite the challenging conditions, Lewes runners packed the top-10 and dominated the team contest. Wednesday 6th June the Sussex schools combined events champs held at Withdean Stadium had three Lewes athletes entered. There was also great news for the club and for Lewes when Rob Mullett currently in the USA texted to say that he had achieved the B qualifying standard for the Olympic 3,000m Steeple Chase with a run of 8mins 31.62secs. Rob is one of only three in the UK that have achieved this Olympic qualifying mark.
