Top-four finish for Lewes AC runner at the 2026 Paddock Wood Half Marathon

Lewes AC's Joshua Burgess sprints to the finish on his way to an outstanding fourth place at the 2026 Paddock Wood Half Marathon.

Lewes Athletic Club runner Joshua Burgess produced an outstanding performance to finish fourth overall at the 2026 Paddock Wood Half Marathon in Kent on Sunday, 8th March.

Burgess completed the fast and flat rural course in an impressive 1:06:53, placing fourth in the Senior Men’s category and leading a strong Lewes AC contingent at the popular event near Tonbridge.

The race is known as one of the quickest half marathons in the South East. It takes runners through the hop fields and orchards of the Kent countryside. This year’s event was run in near-perfect conditions, with light cloud cover, low winds and temperatures between 7.5°C and 9°C.

Lewes AC at the 2026 Paddock Wood Half MarathonGeorge Stewart was the second Lewes finisher, clocking 1:11:39, while fellow Senior runner Reece Clark crossed the line in 1:18:05.

Laura Douse also ran strongly, finishing fifth in the Veteran Women 35–44 category in 1:24:11.

Club chair Philip Westbury completed the Lewes results with a time of 1:32:58 in the Veteran Men 40–49 category.

Westbury said: “It was a brilliant morning for racing and great to see such strong performances from the Lewes AC team. The Paddock Wood course is perfect for fast times, and everyone made the most of the conditions.”
