22 Lewes AC runners successfully tackle the Chichester 10K

Braving an early morning start 22 Lewes AC runners made their way to Chichester to join 1,700 other runners in the 10K road race. Continuing to build on the club’s success in endurance events across the County the Lewes runners produced some outstanding results is a race with competitors from across the South of England.

Leading the charge in the men aged over 40 category were Mike Ellicock and Lewis Sida who were only separated by one second when they finished in 43rd and 44th overall in the race. Their times of 33mins 34secs and 33mins 35 secs respectively gave them second and third medal position in their age group. Lee Woodgate continuing to make massive improvements in his times finished 15th in the same age group category with a time of 36mins 59secs and Mark Cage close behind in 18th position finished with a time of 37mins 43secs.

Also having a great run and not to be outdone by her husband Helen Sida finished 11th in her age group with a time of 40mins 44secs. Karin Divall in the 50 plus age group also had a great run to finish in 13th position in a time of 49mins 21secs.

The ever consistent Jonathon Burrell in the men aged over 50 category again had another great run to finish 6th within his age category with a time of 36mins 53secs. In the same age group was Tony Deacon in the 31st slot with a time of 41mins 54secs.

Once again it was a battle between the Bradford brothers to claim bragging rights over the other in the senior men’s category. This time David pipped his brother Matt by finishing in 44th position in a time of 33mins 38secs and Matt finishing 50th in a time of 34mins 03secs. Josh Burgess was close behind the battling brothers in 57th position with a time of 34mins 23secs.

In the senior women’s category Megan Taylor again had a storming run to finish in 19th in her age group with a time of 39mins 24secs. Maria Barrow on her return from injury showed all is going in the right direction by finishing 28th in the age group with a time of 42mins 36secs. Coming up fast and showing that her training is really paying off Dinah Godfree finished in 52nd place is the same category with a time of 46mins 35secs.

Other Lewes AC finishers with their times and age group positions were Gus Iriarte (37.54 SM): Rashaad Shabab (38.05 SM); Mike Green (39.33 M40); Constance Callifas (39.39 SM); Nathan Hafford-Tear (42.36 SM); Aaron Barnard (43.51 SM); Max Soudain (44.31 M40); John Coleman (56.12 M60)
