Medal success for Lewes AC athletes at Sussex Schools and SEAA
With a rush of competitions over the weekend there came a rush of medals for Lewes AC young athletes. Reaching for new heights was James Shackleton who in the Sussex Schools Championships on Saturday 14th June won a gold medal in the U20M Pole Vault with a vault of 4.00m. The other gold medal won at this event was by Livvy Connor in the U17W 300m hurdles with a time of 47.50secs.
In addition to these gold medals there were five silver medals won by Lewes athletes. Amy Davila in the U20W 800m secured the silver medal with a time of 2mins 24.5secs. Ruby Whyte-Wilding won silver in the U17W 800m with personal best time of 2mins 23.5secs and Toby Baker also a silver in the U17M 3000m with personal best time of 10mins 30.3secs. James Martin won a silver in the U17M 1,500m steeple chase in a pb time of 5mins 14.8secs and Millie Hemsley silver in the U17W pole vault with a vault of 2.90m. Making up the medal winners from Lewes AC James Linington won a bronze medal in the U15B 100m with a time of 11.90secs.
Other competitors at the Sussex Schools Championships were Grace Salter 4th in the U15G 75m hurdles in 12.7secs: Jay Sindon 4th in the U15B triple jump with 11.16m: Larissa Carter 4th in the U15G hammer with a throw of 34.06m: Patrick McManus 5th in the U20M 800m with 2mins 02.6secs:Ben Martin 6th in the U15B 800m with a pb time of 2mins 13.1secs: Aiden Briffett 6th in the U17M 1500m in a pb time of 4mins33.6secs: Hannah Lewis 9th in the U15G javelin with a throw of 20.94m: Sam Jackson 9th in the U17M 1500m in 4mins 38.8secs and Amy Fines 12th in the U15G 1500m in 5mins 59.7secs.
On Sunday 15th June at the South of England Athletics championships at Crystal Palace and despite competing in a much older age group Livvy Connor won a silver medal with a pole vault of 3.50m. Also competing in this upper age group was Millie Hemsley who gained a storming 12th place in the pole vault with a vault of 2.90m. Up against some tough competition Aaron Guilford was 6th in the 2nd heat of the U20M 400m with a time of 51.28secs and also 6th in the U20M 200m with a time of 22.93secs.
