It is with much sadness that we have to write these words to let you know that Graham Shuttleworth a long time member of Lewes AC has died after a very short illness.
Graham was admitted to a hospital in Nottingham on Easter Monday and scans the next day revealed he had incurable pancreatic cancer. Eleven days later, after making a very rapid decline his life ended.
Graham and the Shuttleworth family made a massive contribution to the early formation and success of Lewes AC with Graham playing a significant role as a throws coach. His organisational skills and local contacts were extremely important in the early development of the club.
In 2000 he successfully organised the official opening of the newly constructed track. Throughout the day there were competitions for Lewes schools, club members, local clubs and for international and national level athletes. The day ended with a rather wet barbecue and a social gathering.
