Ashdown Forest Cross Country – Sunday 10th February

Despite very severe weather conditions 22 Lewes AC runners took part at Ashdown Forest in the penultimate race of the Sunday Cross Country League series. Despite a number of the Lewes runners having run previously in the Sussex Masters Cross Country Championships the club had strength in depth to win this league match. This puts the club solidly at the head of the League with 6 position points compared to Hailsham Harriers 9 and Eastbourne Rovers 18 with one race still to go.

The women’s side did especially well, with their best score of the season with Sally Norris the first senior woman in 21st position in a time of 36.09mins. Other notable performances were John Lowden in 6th position and the first over 50 man in a time of 33.07mins; Peter Kennedy first over 60 man in 44th position in a time of 39.08mins and John Coleman well and truly on the comeback trail as first over 65 man in 70th position in a time of 43.05mins.
